The Nature photography Group of the Central Coast of CA has an active Facebook page and we get together regularly for meetups.  The Santa Maria Camera Club is very active with monthly meetings and contests; and the Central Coast Photographic Society has monthly online meetings, competitions and opportunities to display your work.
